Yes, You Can Ask Me to Mashup Songs

“Is it weird if I put these two songs together?”
“Can you blend them or would that even work?”
“Can you only play specific parts of this song and then some from this song?”
These are questions I receive from potential clients and friends. And my answer is always: challenge accepted.
What might seem like an impossible request to someone else is actually my creative sweet spot. I like finding the common thread between your song choices and weaving the melodies together in way that feels just right to you. I have a process that I trust: I listen to the songs on repeat, experiment at the piano, break it down and rearrange some areas, and start crafting a version that fits your moment. I get into the zone and start imagining what it will sound like floating through your venue. I’ll even send you rough recordings along the way so we can tweak it until it feels just right. No combination of songs is too far out; if you can dream, I can play it.
Take Courtney and Colton for example, they asked me to merge three songs together for their ceremony: The Blessing by Kari Jobe, Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, and What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong Worship. It could’ve felt disjointed in the wrong hands, but I sat with it for a month or so and experimented with a few ideas. About six weeks after the booked me, I sent them a rough draft of their custom arranged ceremony music. Courtney messaged me saying it made her cry. Happy tears, yay! All that to say, even it if seems like a stretch, I will figure out a way to make your musical dreams come true.
Musically Yours,
Queency
